About the institution
DR. AMBEDKAR COLLEGE OF LAW
People's Education Society, which conducts Dr. Ambedkar College of Law, was founded on 8th July, 1945 by Bharat Ratna Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar.
Bharat Ratna Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar founded People's Education Society on 08.07.1945. The Society was inspired by the five great ideals of Lord Buddha: knowledge, compassion, democracy, equality and justice.
Dr. Ambedkar College of Law is one of the premier institutions promoting higher education in general and legal education in particular among disadvantaged communities, including Buddhist, Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and Other Backward Class students. Shri S. L. Khot was the first Principal associated with the College.
People's Education Society, which conducts Dr. Ambedkar College of Law, was founded on 8th July, 1945 by Bharat Ratna Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, M.A., Ph.D., D.Sc. (London), LL.D. (Columbia), D.Lt. (Osmania), Bar-at-Law. The Society derives its inspiration from the teachings and ideals of Lord Buddha and believes in the principles of social justice.

Legal education is a sine qua non for all. “Ignorantia juris non excusat” means ignorance of law is no excuse.
As Principal of Dr. Ambedkar College of Law, Mumbai, it is a matter of great honour and pride for me to introduce this premier law college in the capital city of Maharashtra.
During its long journey of more than four decades, the College has established a strong footprint in legal education. It gives us great pleasure to introduce ourselves as one of the oldest law colleges in the city.
The chief architect of the Constitution of India, Bharat Ratna Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, laid down important objectives behind the foundation of the People's Education Society. We are proud to march on the same path in order to fulfil the dream of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar.

University of Mumbai programmes combining doctrinal learning, professional training and applied legal study.
Three Year LL.B.
Open to graduates of the University of Mumbai or candidates holding an equivalent recognised degree. The curriculum includes constitutional law, contracts, family law, criminal law, jurisprudence, evidence, civil and criminal procedure, professional ethics, ADR, drafting, moot court and internship.

First Year LL.B. admission
Admission is conducted through the Maharashtra State CET Cell Centralised Admission Process.
Eligibility
A Bachelor’s Degree (10+2+3) in any stream from a UGC-recognised university, with minimum 45% marks for General Category and 40% for Reserved Category candidates.
Candidates must appear for or pass the Maharashtra State Common Entrance Test and participate in CAP.
